I have the feeling, that those guys could become a strong contender for loquo (a kijiji company). Habitamos, which means “we live” in Spanish (I love this name!), was launched in the end of 2004, having an remarkable amount of listings today already. I will feature the Barcelona site in my statistics from now on.
As always, when I have the feeling that kijiji has become a new competitor, my heart jumps in joy… Keep it up folks, I want to hear about more sites like habitamos…
Its interesting to see the diverse development of the kijiji country sites. In Asia, especially China and Taiwan lots of changes into the visual direction have been made, i.e. this new taiwanesian banner shown below. In the western world, kijiji sticks more to the principle of “text only”.

Rome is Classified Mekka these days: Especially for the new and strong contender from vivastreet. In Berlin, everybody left the city for holidays, as listings went down strongly.

Summertime seems to be craigslist time. CL-sites are growing all over the world these days. Despite the rest of classified world. Have a look. My thesis: craiglist users are using their list for freetime activities, when they are travelling etc. And kijiji is a place for the serious guys, who are gone fishing these days and stopped listing. Maybe this is an indicator of the huge difference felt between craiglist and kijiji. There is something missing: Flamboyance!

All those guys that wait for new Hitlists… A big sorry, I am so messed up with university work these days, its just too much… But have a look at the newest stats on your own, its at least something…
Can anybody imagine that cooperate kijiji would do something flamboyant like that? I don’t think so!
Ciao! Vivastreet approaches Italy in cooperation with virgilio, an italian portal. Good thing to see that those guys from france keep fighting. Thanx to Yannick, who kindly reminded me to have a look.
As you can see in this week’s stats, they already are ahead of kijiji Rome in one category: personals. Keep this spirit, folks!
